taste the rainbow

The grand total of photos I took on my trip to Italy is 4583 (GASP!), and as you're all probably assuming, I haven't even looked at each picture yet! I plan on doing so this weekend.  So I've compiled a vague list on how to divide up my photos to share them with you. We'll see how it goes....

Anyway, when people think of Italy, they think of Rome, Florence, Venice, gelato, wine, pasta, and the like. I plan on showing you my take on all those as well, but I wanted to start with something less popular; the island called Burano. It's just a quick vaporetto ride from Venice, and it's slightly farther than the more well known island Murano (famous for their glass).  We decided to skip Murano, and head to Burano, where they are famous for making lace.  There's a little section of the island that's filled with beautiful little pastel coloured buildings crammed side-by-side.  It's hard not to smile when looking at them all.  It definitely had us wondering whether the residents are told what colour their house has to be, and if not, how do they even begin to choose what happy colour to use? Anyhow, hope you like my pictures; sorry for the essay :)
