my phone's eye *50*

Happy Thursday everyone!!!

I had the loveliest day.  Thomas and I both had the day off, and after a wonderful visit to my doctor, breakfast with my mother, we spent the day Christmas shopping. I'm pretty much done, which is a good feeling. I took way too many photos of the Eaton Centre and all things Christmas related. You'll see them later ;)

Hope you all had a great day too, and that the weekend is even better!

let's put the tree together....

... and when I say "put the tree together", I mean, let's take it out of the box and piece it together. I hate fake Christmas trees. I know, they are more environmentally friendly, but I grew up in a house where we went to White Rose and picked out our tree every year and the smell was just, lovely! Until a few years ago, my mother decided it was time to switch to the dreaded fake tree.  One year, I lugged that massive box all the way from the basement, put the tree together and decorated it all on my lonesome (just to surprise my mother!), and she was definitely surprised.  Ever since then, it's my own little "tradition" that I go to my parent's house to help them with the tree, while listening to old Walt Disney Christmas records!!!  It's one of my favourite new/old traditions.

Anyway, sorry for the essay!  and I KNOW its "too early" for Christmas stuff, but really, let's be honest; my decorations were up two weeks ago. I'm just patiently waiting to get my REAL tree.

in the spotlight - [alex] sneak peak

I would like to introduce you to Alexandra! We used to Greek dance together, but I hadn't seen her in 10 years. She contacted me after she had seen the photos I had taken of Maria.  I was so glad that she did, because it was so nice to see her after all these years!

Alexandra is a highly talented musician.  She plays the piano, writes her own music and plays at various venues in Toronto . She's also the founder of B Sharp Studios, where she teaches children everything they need to know about music.  You can hear her on Sound Cloud, follow her on Facebook, see her on YouTube and check out B Sharp Studios

We had such a blast taking these photos! As you can see, she was all laughs! More later! Hope you enjoy!

Here's a bunch of photos from my iPhone lately. It was my niece's birthday a few weeks ago, so she's taken over my blog! HA!

in the spotlight [maria] - part 3

There's something about taking pictures of people.  I love seeing them in black and white. It feels so raw.  So here's the last in the series of my friend, Maria. Hope you've enjoyed!

i have a problem....

... I'm obsessed with FLARE! aka the rays of light/starbursts/rings/circles caused by pointing the camera at a bright light source.  Its typically an unwanted artifact in photography, but I LOVE it! In fact, I love trying to take photos WITH flare. But it's all about personal preference anyway.... :)

dreams do come true

If you're my friend on facebook, you probably already know that I've always dreamed about running through a corn field.  Like, pulling over on the side of the road, hopping the fence, and just running through a farmer's field. My husband is HIGHLY against this sort of trespassing.  So I found myself at a pumpkin patch, (seen here) that had a corn maze next to it.   It had actual paths cleared out for you to walk in, and lets just say that the second Thomas left my side, I was a little scared. I can definitely imagine how someone can get lost in a corn field. Lucky for him, he's 6'5" and can see OVER the corn stalks (not fair!). I think it's safe to say, I will never be hopping any farmer's fences.
