As I mentioned last week, this is Holy Week for us Greek Orthodox, and yesterday was Palm Sunday. So after church, my family had a lovely lunch at my parents house. My sister and her husband brought Kingston (their dog, whom you met HERE).  My nieces are almost 5 and 3 years old, so for them, Kingston is a little scary since he's taller than them. However, the second Kingston sat down and started chewing on whatever that thing was, my 5 year old niece totally made herself comfortable next to him.  She even mimicked his exact pose.  Too cute.   I love capturing little moments like that.

my phone's eye *70*

HI! Sorry I've been a bad blogger lately! And I'm gearing up for Easter next weekend so things may be a bit quiet, so please forgive me!!!

Anywho, here's the update from my iPhone! Some pictures from the Ottawa region, a date with a good friend, and my favourite new album.  Oh, how I love JT!

So many lovely pets in this edition of my instagram update!!! May I direct your attention to the bottom left hand corner.  That's my sister (with brown hair) (the same sister as in the picture on the upper right hand corner) and her husband, when they were in their early 20s.  She had asked me to take their photos, so we went to a random park, and apparently this "piggy back" pose was all the rage. #whatwerewethinking right?

I'd love to see you on instagram! My username is fromdianetoyou

There's always that one recipe that a mother makes that can never be duplicated.  Especially when you "eyeball" the measurements and you have to achieve the perfect "consistency" and you need "approximately 2 kilos of flour" (like, really!).  For me, this recipe has always been my mom's Easter Bread.  I've seen her slave away in the kitchen many times making this, and it is probably the most labour, time, and temperature sensitive thing I've seen her make, that I wouldn't dare try to read her recipe and do it myself.  A lot of Greek women just buy this bread from the bakery, but my mom will make two batches (probably making around 20 loaves) and give them to family and friends.  So I asked her if she could show me. I want to know her secrets and each intricate step so that one day, I can make it too.

So, my husband turned 30 last week. It was a four day birthday extravaganza.  And we may have played a little "Cards Against Humanity" (which is awful but hilarious), and always makes for good times. Too much wine, cake and dessert means I guess I need to start jogging. *ugh*

Oops!  My "iPhone Thursdays" post just became "iPhone Friday"!

Anywho, this week's post brings you a sushi/shopping date with my sister (who you've seen here MANY times), a birthday party, Coconut the Bunny, Kyle the Iguana, Gordie the Beagle,  and a throwback Thursday to my honeymoon (doesn't even look like me)!

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend! My husband is turning 30 on Monday, so we are having quite the birthday weekend festivities!

feels like home

So, Easter weekend was spent at Thomas' grandfather's home.  And I say home instead of house, because I can't help feeling a sense of family, love and warmth every time I'm there.  Everyone is always so welcoming, every couch and chair is comfortable, there's always someone to talk to, and there's always an abundance of food, chips and chocolate. We almost ran out of milk this weekend, which probably would have been classified as an emergency.  I love how after every meal, all the "kids" have to pitch in and wash the dishes, and then some sort of Disney movie makes it into the VCR.  Somehow, we all revert to an 8 year old version of ourselves. And there's nothing wrong with that.

Hope you all had a lovely weekend :)
